Lu Jong
Lu Jong was developed 8000 years ago by Tibetan monks who lived far from access to medical help in the Himalayan mountains. By combining their knowledge of traditional Tibetan medicine with their observations of nature, they created the therapeutic movements of Lu Jong. These help to prevent illness and recover quicker from physical discomfort.
Today, Tulku Lama Lobsang, who is a very respected Tibetan doctor and has studied the effect of exercises on our body for many years, has selected these Lu Jong exercises to be introduced into the Western world. They will increase your body awareness and develop the body´s natural healing power. “Lu” means body and “Jong” means movement or transition. Lu Jong has its own tradition and distinguishes itself from Yoga and the Chinese practise of Qi Gong or Tai Chi. It is the oldest Asian body practise system. Unlike the static postures of Yoga, these exercises take the form of very soft and slow movements in which breathing and movement come together in a harmonious and fluid way.
Our body is the channel of happiness. It is a temple in which our mind lives. Without the body it is impossible to experience love and happiness. Therefore don´t misuse your body or treat it disrespectfully. This will stop the flow of energy and it will obstruct the production of happiness hormones. You will grow older quickly, have less energy and easily become unhappy.
“Lu Jong is a great technique to create a healthy body and a happy mind.”
How it works
By doing the exercises you remove the blocks that prevent the freeflow of energy in your body. If all of our body´s energies can flow freely, we have a healthy body and a happy mind. Due to stress in our lives we build up these blockages. By practising the Lu Jong exercises on a regular basis, you prevent the blockages from becoming permanent and you can gradually release older blockages. The breath is used to clean the body of “old energies” and release the blockages.
Learn this ancient practice by joining classes or extend your practice by becoming a teacher of Lu Jong.
